Where to go for a picnic: Schloss Hof, Austria

Just outside Bratislava, behind Austrian border, a few minutes drive from the centre of Hainburg you will find a beautiful palace set in an even more beautiful area – Schlosshof. This former residence of Prince Eugene of Savoy breathes majestic baroque atmosphere and offers all-day walks in the beautiful gardens loved even by the emperor Maria Theresa.

Neat vegetable beds, a restaurant and a café, elegant terraced garden with a fountain, picnic area, kid´s zone, a labyrinth, zoo, farmyard, horse riding and a carriage ride – all that is waiting for you here. Schlosshof is definitely worth going on a day trip. From March 12th to November 27th it is open  daily 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Christmas and Easter time will greet you with a season market.

For our family picnic I served home made pizza, sugar-free home made banana bread, veggies, fruit salad and coffee.
